Shirlington is an urban neighborhood in South Arlington, bordering West Alexandria. The neighborhood is anchored by the Village at Shirlington, giving residents access to an AMC movie theater, the Shirlington branch of the Arlington Public Library, a post office, the Signature Theatre, as well as restaurants and boutiques. The Shirlington Dog Park is very popular, and it is often voted one of the area’s best dog parks. The Dog Park has a creek where dogs can swim during warmer months; it’s lovely.
Shirlington has access to I-395 taking commuters to DC or towards Tyson’s Corner. The Shirlington Bus Station is an enclosed public bus station and is the principal transfer point for Metrobus and ART bus. If you want to avoid driving, an alternative is taking the bus from Shirlington one stop to the Pentagon Metro Station on the Yellow and Blue Lines. Like the rest of Arlington & Alexandria, the real estate market is very competitive now that Amazon’s HQ2 has opened at National Landing.
